Crastan’s fascinating story accompanies us, discreetly, from the dawn of the unification of Italy to the present day. It was 1870 when Luzio Crastan, a witty and courageous entrepreneur, had the intuition to offer Italians a valid and qualitative alternative to coffee, which was burdened with heavy import duties that made it too expensive, prohibitive even for the average family of the time. The choice of Made in Italy has characterized Crastan since its foundation. Even today, all the cereals used in the two production factories come from Italian fields and there are no chemical or synthetic additions. Crastan is 100% Made in Italy, the only Italian producer of soluble barley as well as the largest Italian company producing instant coffee substitutes.
Supply Chain Traceability
We select the best Italian varieties of barley to trace the entire supply chain by stipulating sowing contracts exclusively with Italian farms. Our Control and Quality system checks and supports the barley in all its phases: from harvest to its transformation.

Il nostro ORZO proviene solo da coltivazioni italiane e cresce sano e rigoglioso tra le colline dell’Emilia, la Toscana e le Marche, le colline del bergamasco e la fertile terra delle Murge, tra la Puglia e la Basilicata.
I nostri campi si estendono proprio lì dove la terra, l’acqua, il vento e la naturale brezza cullano e nutrono i chicchi d’orzo.
Il nostro sistema di Controllo e Qualità verifica e accompagna il prodotto in tutte le sue fasi: dalla semina, al raccolto fino alla sua trasformazione finale.
Le nostre tecniche di produzione sono naturali. Non utilizziamo prodotti chimici, di sintesi o materie prime derivate OGM.

CRASTAN L'Orzo Italiano
Tutto inizia nel 1870, quando Luzio Crastan ebbe una grande e rivoluzionaria intuizione: regalare a tutti una valida e interessante alternativa al caffè. Nasce così a Pontedera il suo primo laboratorio dedicato alla creazione di gustose alternative al caffè, allora a base di cicoria. Le peculiarità dei suoi prodotti, il gusto originale e l’aroma unico, iniziarono subito ad entrare nelle abitudini degli italiani, permettendo ai tre figli Felice, Niccolo e Guglielmo di ampliare la gamma a inizio ‘900 (CAFFEOL, OLANDESE FAGO, MORETTO). E come ben si sa, il successo permette di fare grandi cose. È così che nel 1960 la tipica cicoria viene sostituita dall’orzo, cereale che una volta tostato sprigiona un profumo ed un gusto semplice e genuino. Crastan riesce in questo modo in un’altra grande impresa: trasformare l’orzo da semplice sostituto a vera e propria alternativa salutare e gustosa, adatta anche ai bambini. Pensa a Orzo Pupo, uno dei prodotti emblema della nostra storia e che ancora oggi fa parte della gioia della colazione (e non solo) delle famiglia italiane.
